One of us

'One of Us' portrays the thirteen-year search for the perpetrator of the rape and murder of a 16-year-old young woman, who is found exactly between a small village and an asylum seekers' centre. The murder case not only tears apart entire families and a village, but ultimately preoccupies the entire country and exposes the soul of a new century.

ROKJESNACHT

Rokjesnacht will be Johan Nijenhuis's 21st film. In Rokjesnacht, Roos decides to start a company called Blind Date to help people find their ideal partner. Roos believes in human matchmakers rather than apps that do it for you. She sets to work with an extensive questionnaire for four very different people. I edited Rokjesnacht alongside editor Elsbeth Kasteel, NCE.

I was a guest on the NCE podcast. My colleague Michiel Boesveldt talked to me about the approach to mixing comedy and drama along with editing commercial films. When Jacco (Tibor Lukács) and Sylvie (Jennifer Hoffman) decide to take their daughter Loïs (Aiko Mila Beemsterboer) and son Bink (Bing van Son) on holiday to an all-inclusive resort, their already shaky marriage is put to the test. When Sylvie tells Jacco upon arrival that she wants to take a “break”, Jacco, in the midst of his midlife crisis, finds this difficult to accept. Within the idyllic all-inclusive culture, Jacco will have to confront his stubborn wife, his teenage children, but above all his biggest challenge: himself.

Zenith: Supercharged Family - Season 2

The marriage escape

Jan has been married to Gedda for 35 years. Gedda loves Jan so much that it makes him feel suffocated. She sees marriage as a form of assisted living. In an attempt to gain more freedom, Jan does such strange things that he sees his marriage literally turning into a closed ward. Daughter Liesbeth is in the same boat as her father with her measured and jealous boyfriend. In The Marriage Escape, they take a close look at their partners and the question arises: how much love is too much love?

VAN GOD LOS - Seasons 1, 2, 3 & 4

Van God Los is a gripping drama series in which viewers are confronted with crimes inspired by true stories in nine separate episodes. The series tells stories from the criminal world of young people, from the perspective of both the perpetrator and the victim. Van God Los does not confirm prejudices, but challenges viewers to judge for themselves. It is the explicit intention of the creators to confuse and unsettle viewers, to test their prejudices and to undermine their certainties.

Monkey business

This heartwarming film is inspired by the drawings of Cornelis Jetses, known for his school posters, children's books and reading boards. Ten-year-old Wim dreams of going to school but he lives in an orphanage. Together with the other children in the orphanage, he is exploited and has to work hard every day in a textile factory. The children eagerly await the introduction of the Education Act, which makes it compulsory for children aged six to twelve to attend school. When Wim manages to escape, Jet ensures that he can hide on her farm.

SEKJOERITIE - TELEFILM

Tjitske works for a current affairs programme. Her boss has given her permission to make a documentary about a hot topic: the increasing popularity of right-wing ideology. Bob, a security guard, seems to be the ideal representative of the lower classes of society. In his work, he comes into contact with dignitaries, activists, street urchins and other articulate Dutch people. However, with his gift of the gab, charm and humour, he manages to control all difficult situations. With both feet firmly planted in the clay of multicultural society, he also proves to be unexpectedly nuanced. Tjitske challenges him, but is mainly confronted with her own prejudices. And the better she gets to know Bob, the more she likes him.
